The Magic of the Cities.

Zen promotes the rediscovery of the obvious, which is so often lost in its familiarity and simplicity. It sees the miraculous in the common and magic in our everyday surroundings. When we are not rushed, and our minds are unclouded by conceptualizations, a veil will sometimes drop, introducing the viewer to a world unseen since childhood. ~ John Greer

"In my view, a photographer is someone who photographs. Not someone who thinks about photographing, or who wants to photograph, but someone who does it, preferably day in and day out." - Frank Van Riper

Sphinx

Isn’t life more than that? Doesn’t existence itself rise above all the things that
happen—the goods, the bads, the rights, the wrongs, the judgments? Isn’t it a
kindness to be here? Isn’t this a special moment—this moment called being alive?
How aware am I of it? How much do I recognize it?
What am I concerned about today? Am I the least bit concerned about something
that is finer than the finest hair—something that cannot be measured in width,
height, or weight and that is the only difference between me and that headstone?
Do you know what it is? It’s the breath that comes in and out of me.
You cannot take a picture of it. You cannot paint it. You cannot make a statue of it.
You cannot give it, buy it, trade it, or sell it. And it makes all the difference between
you and your headstone. Because breath comes, you’re intelligent. Because it comes,
you are Mr. So-and-So, Mrs. So-and-So, Miss So-and-So, Dr. So-and-So, Captain
So-and-So, Professor So-and-So. And thanks to this gift of breath, you have the
capability to understand, to question, to reason, to observe, and to learn.

Xinantecatl Volcano

“Nevado de Toluca” is a large stratovolcano in central Mexico, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) west of Mexico City near the city of Toluca. It is generally cited as the fourth highest of Mexico's peaks, after Pico de OrizabaPopocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. It is often called by the Nahuatl name Xinantecatl which is usually translated as “The Naked Lord”.

The volcano has a 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) wide summit caldera which is open to the east. The highest summit, 4,680 metres (15,354 ft) Pico del Fraile (Friar's Peak), is on the southwest side of the crater and the second highest, 4,640 metres (15,223 ft) Pico del Aguila (Eagle's Peak), is on the northwest. There are two crater lakes on the floor of the basin at about 4,200 m (13,800 ft), the larger Lago del Sol (Sun Lake) and the smaller, but deeper, Lago de la Luna (Moon Lake).  [Wiki]

Battery Park

Battery Park (The Battery) is a 25-acre (10 hectare) public park located at the Battery, the southern tip of Manhattan Island in New York City, facing New York Harbor. The Battery is named for the DutchBritish, and finally American artillery batteries that was stationed there at various times in order to protect the settlements behind it. At the north end of the park is Castle Clinton, the often re-purposed last remnant of the defensive works that inspried the name of the park; Pier A, formerly a fireboat station; and Hope Garden, a memorial to AIDS victims. At the other end is Battery Gardens restaurant, next to the United States Coast Guard Battery Building. Along the waterfront, ferries depart for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. There is also a stop on the New York Water Taxi route between the Statue of Liberty Ferry and Pier A. The park is also the site of the East Coast Memorial which commemorates U.S. servicemen who died in coastal waters of the western Atlantic Ocean during World War II.
To the northwest of the park lies Battery Park City, a planned community built on landfill in the 1970s and 80s, which includes Robert F. Wagner Park and the Battery Park City Promenade. Together with Hudson River Park, a system of greenspaces, bikeways and promenades now extend up the Hudson shoreline. A bikeway is being built through the park that will connect the Hudson River and East River parts of the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway. Across State Street to the northeast stands the old U.S. Customs House, now used as a branch of the National Museum of the American Indian and the district U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Peter Minuit Plaza abuts the southeast end of the park, directly in front of the South Ferry Terminal of the Staten Island Ferry. [Wiki]

Cymbaline

The path you tread is narrow
And the drop is sheer and very high
The ravens all are watching
From a vantage point nearby
Apprehension creeping
Like a tube-train up your spine
Will the tightrope reach the end
Will the final couplet rhyme

And it's high time
Cymbaline
It's high time
Cymbaline
Please wake me

A butterfly with broken wings
Is falling by your side
The ravens all are closing in
And there's nowhere you can hide
Your manager and agent
Are both busy on the phone
Selling coloured photographs
To magazines back home

And it's high time
Cymbaline
It's high time
Cymbaline
Please wake me

The lines converging where you stand
They must have moved the picture plane
The leaves are heavy around your feet
You feel the thunder of the train
And suddenly it strikes you
That they're moving into range
Doctor Strange is always changing size

And it's high time
Cymbaline
It's high time
Cymbaline
Please wake me

And it's high time
Cymbaline
It's high time
Cymbaline
Please wake me
