The Magic of the Cities.

Zen promotes the rediscovery of the obvious, which is so often lost in its familiarity and simplicity. It sees the miraculous in the common and magic in our everyday surroundings. When we are not rushed, and our minds are unclouded by conceptualizations, a veil will sometimes drop, introducing the viewer to a world unseen since childhood. ~ John Greer

La Hija de los Apaches / The Apaches Daughter

Pulque.
Agua de las verdes matas,
tú me tumbas, tú me matas,
tú me haces andar a gatas.
Antigua rima popular.

Pulque, or octli, is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented juice of the maguey, and is a traditional native beverage of Mesoamerica.
The maguey plant is not a cactus (as has sometimes been mistakenly suggested) but an agave, elsewhere called the "century plant". The plant was one of the most sacred plants in Mexico and had a prominent place in mythology, religious rituals, and Mesoamerican industry. La Hija de los Apaches, Its old glory and bright seem to be obscured by the erosion. This
rustic 60 years old ¨Pulquería” is one of the last bastions of local customs that stubbornly refuse to give in.
“La Hija de los Apaches” has witnessed countless discussions of famous writers through time and relates of ex-boxers who come to evoke his great feats every Thursday. Luis Buñuel, the eminent filmmaker, found an oasis in this place while he was filming ¨Los Olvidados¨ back in the 50s.
This was take last Friday afternoon.

Giordano Bruno

Giordano Bruno: The Forgotten Philosopher

He is one martyr whose name should lead all the rest. He was not a mere religious sectarian who was caught up in the psychology of some mob hysteria. He was a sensitive, imaginative poet, fired with the enthusiasm of a larger vision of a larger universe ... and he fell into the error of heretical belief. For this poets vision he was kept in a dark dungeon for eight years and then taken out to a blazing market place and roasted to death by fire.
